BIR Extends the Deadline of Submission of the Alphabetical List for Employees Withholding Tax for 2023

In line with the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) advisory, Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 16-2024, the alphabetical list of employees/payees withholding tax has been extended to February 28, 2024. The original deadline for the submission was previously set on January 31, 2024.

The extension is caused by the introduction of the 5% tax credit incentive under the Personal Equity and Retirement Account (PERA) Act of 2008 and the revised income tax rates under TRAIN Law for the taxable year of 2023. Previous Revenue Circulars were also issued to update the BIR Form No. 2316 (Income Tax Return) and BIR Form No. 1604C (alphalist) which also extends the Employee Tax Annualization.

In addition, for employers with employees who availed of the 5% tax credit under the PERA Act of 2008 and those who have not submitted their alphalist for 2022, the deadline is 30 days after the release of the tax advisory on the BIR website indicating the availability of a separate revised data entry module.
